Connect Fastmail to your AI agents
Fastmail runs its own MCP server for Fastmail alone. Emailgents puts Fastmail next to every other inbox you own, behind one connection and one access log.

Fastmail is one of the few providers that ships an official MCP server, and it is a good one if Fastmail is the only mailbox you use. Most people also have a Gmail, a work account or an old iCloud address, and each of those needs its own connector in every agent.
Emailgents connects Fastmail over IMAP with an app password and exposes it together with all your other mailboxes through one URL. One sign-in per agent, one search across everything, one place to see what agents read.
How to connect Fastmail
Nothing is stored until the connection test passes.
- 01Create a Fastmail app passwordIn Fastmail open Settings, Privacy and Security, Integrations, and create a new app password with access to Mail (IMAP). Copy it.
- 02Add Fastmail in EmailgentsIn Mailboxes choose Fastmail, enter your Fastmail address and paste the app password. The connection is tested at once.
- 03Let the index buildThe last 90 days are indexed and kept fresh every few minutes.
- 04Add the connector to your agentPaste https://emailgents.com/mcp into your agent and sign in once.
https://emailgents.com/mcpWhat agents get
- Every Fastmail folder, including folders created by rules and the ones used by aliases.
- Incremental sync with CONDSTORE where Fastmail offers it, so flag changes arrive quickly.
- The same read-only tool set and access log as every other provider.
Limits and prerequisites
- The app password must be created with IMAP access; a password limited to CalDAV or CardDAV will not connect.
- JMAP-only features such as Fastmail's masked email management are not exposed over IMAP; mail sent to masked addresses is still searchable.
Use it from your agent
Once Fastmail is connected, add Emailgents to the agent you use.

- ChatGPTChatGPT's built-in apps cover Gmail and Outlook. With Emailgents as a connector it also reads iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail and your second Gmail, through one sign-in.3 min
- CursorBug reports, customer threads and vendor receipts live in email. Add one entry to mcp.json and Cursor's agent can read them without you copying and pasting.2 min
- CodexCodex CLI, the IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share one MCP configuration. Add Emailgents once and all of them can read your mail.2 min
- Gemini CLIGemini in Gmail reads one Google account. Gemini CLI with Emailgents reads every inbox you own, from the terminal.2 min
Fastmail questions
Should I use Fastmail's own MCP server or Emailgents?
If Fastmail is your only mailbox and you want Fastmail-specific features, Fastmail's server is a fine choice. If you also have Gmail, Outlook, iCloud or any other account, Emailgents gives your agents all of them through one connection with one access log.
Is it safe to give an AI agent access to my Fastmail mail?
Emailgents only exposes read tools (search, open, thread, attachment) plus one flag tool for read/unread and starred. There is no send, reply, forward, move or delete, so a prompt hidden in an email cannot make your agent act on your behalf. Credentials are encrypted at rest, every agent call is written to your Activity page, and you can revoke a mailbox or a key in one click.
How do I revoke access?
Remove the mailbox in Emailgents or delete the app password in Fastmail's Integrations settings.
What exactly does Emailgents store from Fastmail?
A structured index of recent mail: sender, recipients, subject, date, folder, flags, thread references, attachment names and a short cleaned snippet. The default window is 90 days per mailbox and you can change it. Full bodies are fetched from Fastmail on demand and only cached, encrypted, if you turn body caching on for that mailbox.
Which agents can read my Fastmail inbox through Emailgents?
Any MCP client: Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, VS Code and any other MCP client, or your own scripts over REST. You add one URL, https://emailgents.com/mcp, sign in once, and every mailbox you have connected appears to that agent.
